About Sophie Terrasse

The Past

While pursuing a successful Speech-Language Pathology practice, first in France and then in Canada, Sophie never stopped broadening her skills by mastering a range of time-proven techniques and innovative disciplines - Art Therapy, Kundalini Yoga, and Laughter Yoga.

In 2006, she founded the Ottawa Sunflower Laughter Club - and later the Sunflower Institute to implement and promote her unique therapeutic approach: Wellness through art, laughter and yoga.

The Present

Today, Sophie makes use of these innovative techniques to help and guide people who
wish to discover and develop their own inner strength, inner powers, wisdom, and joy, and promote their physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Through her practice, she also supports her overall mission: to promote world peace, joy, and harmony and to make a positive difference in the world.

As a licensed Art Therapist, and as a certified Kundalini Yoga and Laughter Yoga teacher/leader and Rigologist, Sophie Terrasse offers therapy services, teaching seminars, group workshops, and retreats in Canada and around the world. She has also been a guest speaker at various conventions and conferences.

Sophie was trained and certified as a Laughter Yoga Leader and Laughter Yoga Teacher by Dr. Madan Kataria, founder of the international Laughter Yoga movement. As such, she is eminently qualified to lead Laughter Yoga sessions and to train people to become Laughter Yoga leaders. Sophie was also trained and certified in Rigology & the science of laughter and joie de vivre (joy of living), by Corinne Cosseron, the founder of The International School Of Laughter.

Sophie spreads Laughter Yoga in as many events and contexts as possible: public organizations, associations, hospitals, schools, government agencies, and private businesses. She also offers Laughter Yoga sessions in support of various charities, such as Osteoporosis Canada, Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), Centre for the Study of Islam at Carleton University, Foundation Quebecoise du Cancer, etc.

And Now, The Future

Laughter Capital is the embodiment of Sophie's vision for Canada's Capital: to make Ottawa not only the National Capital and Capital of Seriousness, but also the Capital of Laughter!

Sophie's Mission is to help leaders, professionals, and politicians to make Ottawa a better place to work – a place where we will continue working hard – with a welcome twist laughing more to work better! She wants Ottawa to start laughing for excellence and for optimal physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. She wants the people of Ottawa to learn how they too can increase their laughter capital and reap the wonderful dividends of Laughter for no Reason - right now!
